Arizona paycheck questions
How much Arizona income tax comes out of my paycheck?
Arizona is simple: your employer withholds the percentage you picked on Form A-4 (0.5% to 3.5%) of your taxable wages, or 2.0% if you never filed one. Show the math lists every step.
Why does the calculator ask about Form A-4?
Your employer withholds Arizona tax based on the Form A-4 you filled in, which is separate from your federal Form W-4. If you never filled one in, employers usually withhold as single with no allowances.
What is the minimum wage in Arizona in 2026?
Arizona's minimum wage is $15.15 an hour, effective January 1, 2026. Tipped workers can be paid up to $3.00 less, or $12.15 an hour, if tips bring them to at least the full minimum wage. The rate is adjusted each January 1.
When do I get my final paycheck if I am fired in Arizona?
If you are fired, your employer must pay all wages due within seven working days or by the end of the next regular pay period, whichever is sooner. If you quit, you are paid in the usual way by the regular payday for that pay period.
How do I file an unpaid wage claim in Arizona?
You can file a written claim with the Labor Department of the Industrial Commission of Arizona if the unpaid wages are $12,000 or less and you file within one year. Minimum wage complaints also have a one-year deadline with the Commission.
Can my Arizona employer take money out of my paycheck?
Only if state or federal law requires or allows it, you gave written permission in advance, or there is a reasonable good-faith dispute about the amount owed. You can revoke a written authorization, except for some debt repayments and court orders.
How often must I be paid in Arizona?
Arizona employers must set two or more paydays each month, no more than 16 days apart, and pay all wages due up to that date (up to five days of labor can be held to the next payday). Some out-of-state employers may pay managers monthly.
Why is my first paycheck in January different?
New federal withholding tables and a new Social Security cap start on January 1. Pick a 2027 pay date in the calculator to see the change.
Why did my paycheck get bigger late in the year?
Social Security stops once your pay for the year reaches $184,500. Enter your pay so far this year to see when that happens.
How much is $70,000 a year after taxes in Arizona?
About $56,675.06 a year, or $2,179.81 every two weeks, for a single filer with no pre-tax deductions in 2026. That is after federal income tax, Social Security, Medicare and Arizona income tax. Use the calculator for your own filing status and deductions.
